All remedies for insomnia
62I admit, it's exaggeration. I can't mention all the remedies for insomnia as it's impossible. Everyone can invent a remedy for sleep problems. I just want this to be as complete as possible guide with some relatively unknown tips and methods. Then let's start..
1-) Room you sleep is important. If it's possible it must be just for sleeping and a place of tranquility. To give that feeling of tranquility. try to meditate in the room, it may work. And use color psychology, paint your walls blue or green, these colors are calming and help with the tranqulity feeling.
2-)Your bed is important too. Be sure to have a comfortable bed. Specially in summer try to keep your bed cool by any means. Do not use your bed for anything else than sleeping. Like your room it must be a place of tranquility.
3-) Do some activity in the day that makes you tired. Exercise would be great, it has many health benefits. But don't exercise just before sleeping.
4-)Spend some time for relaxation. There are methods for relaxation. One of them is progressive muscle relaxation. In this method starting from your face through your feet you tense muscle groups of your body then relax them, in turn. Another approach would be meditation, simply concentrating on your breath, inhaling and exhaling. If these are too hard for you just listen relaxation music.
5-)Visualisation. Close your eyes and imagine a relaxing scene. Visualise that you are at a beach, you can hear the sound of light waves, a soothing warm wind and you are laying..Try to feel the sensations while your eyes are closed.
6-) You can try brainwave entrainment. Producers of these brainwave entrainment recordings claim these recordings help with insomnia among other things. One well known brainwave entrainment product you can use for insomnia is neuroprogrammer 3. You can google it.
7-) Don't eat much at night. If you need to snack, snack fruits. One approach is dinner cancelling. It's said to be good for insomnia and quality of sleep. You simply don't eat anything after 6:00, just water and herb teas are allowed. It may be too much but just try for a day to see if it works.
8-) No need to say, avoid caffeine specially in night. Avoid tobacco too, nicotine is a stimulant.
9-) This is cliche but ı have to write as it works for some people, drink warm milk before sleeping.
10-)Try aromatherapy, smelling oils of herbs like lavender, sandalwood, chamomile or marjoram before sleeping relaxes and soothes you so makes falling a sleep easier.
11-)You can also try herb teas. Chamomile tea is known to be a aid for sleeping. Lavender tea too.
12-)Valerian herb extract's effectiveness for insomnia has been proved by studies. It can be provided as a supplement or as a drug from pharmacy.
13-)Kava is another herb that has antianxiety properties. It's powerful and a significant aid for sleeping.
14-)Passion flower is traditionally used for tension. It's relaxing and calming also very safe. You can try it as a sleep aid.
15-)Magnesium. Lately it has a reputation as stress mineral. It has calming properties and some people say it helps them sleep. Try an effective form like magnesium glycinate.
16-) Take a warm bath, anyways don't people do that everyday unless they have a desire for cold or too hot water?
17-) If feelings of sadness and hopelessness are present with insomnia consider consulting your doctor for possibility of depression. Depression is one of the main causes of insomnia. There are many depressed people who are not aware of their depression. When their depression heals sleep problems too, disappear.
18-)Try this technique mentioned in the uncopyrighted book, Power of Concentration by Theron Q. Dumont. The method is called water method. Quote from the book,
''Put a full glass of clear water on a table in your sleeping room.
Sit in a chair beside the table and gaze into the glass of water
and think how calm it is. Then picture yourself , getting into
just as calm a state. In a short time you will find the nerves
becoming quiet and you will be able to go to sleep. Sometimes it
is good to picture yourself becoming drowsy to induce sleep, and,
again, the most persistent insomnia has been overcome by one
thinking of himself as some inanimate object--for instance, a
hollow log in the depths of the cool, quiet forest''
Concentration is more than you think, it can help from insomnia to even attract success and money.. You can look at more aspects of concentration at my article, use your concentration.
Sleeping is a important matter though most of us do it with no effort sometimes even if we don't want to. Also quality of sleep is important. Sleeping is a time of rest and an oppurtinity for our organism to balance itself. A good nights sleep is essential for success at coming day. I hope this article helps someone to sleep better.

Yes, some very good tips. I'd heard the number 4 tip: Progressive Muscle Relaxation, before but the way I heard it was from the feet up. not from the head down the way 'ofmelancholy' instructs.
Sorry I have to disagree with you Sanya when you say:
"Very informative article but there is one error, "There are many depressed people their depression undiagnosed." does not make sense..."
I think what the author of this article means is that there are many depressed people but not all are what we'd term clinically diagnosed, i.e. they haven't been to see their doctors about it. Many people [myself included] try to cope alone with depression, for a variety of reasons. And the mistake with the comma in the next line could just be a typo.
Hey talk.09, I did understand what the author meant to say, I just meant that it's grammatically incorrect. It shouldn't have been, "There are many depressed people their depression undiagnosed." The correct sentence would be as follows: There are many depressed people but their depression goes undiagnosed. Anyways, it has been corrected now. I noticed one more error, "Take a warm bath, anyways doesn't people do that everyday unless they have a desire for cold or too hot water?"...doesn't should be replaced with don't. Sorry, I'm pointing too many errors. I really enjoyed reading it. I like herbal teas, especially green and peach tea.
great ideasm well thoughtout hub. Like the tips used almost all of them but you a few that I have not tried so thank-you!
I combine a few of the tips you suggested. I get ready for bed, lay down, picture a calm, relaxing scene. Then, I focus on relaxing my body from the head down. It's a mediation practice that was taught to me years ago. Sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't. It just depends on how stressed I am that day. Great tips!
Thanks for the hub, really enjoyed it! My favorite technique has always been relaxation methods - they're so easy to use (once you get used to them) - especially deep breathing, and results are almost instantaneous.
I haven't heard of the clear water method before, but it seems pretty promising, will look at it, thanks!
Also, I really enjoyed the herb listings - have added kava and passionflower to it!
I've also posted stuff similar on my blog, feel free to visit it at http://www.ecuresinsomnia.com/...
Thanks for the hub!

Very informative article but there is one error,"There are many depressed people their depression undiagnosed." does not make sense and in the next line,"When their depression heals sleep problems, too disappear." the comma should be after "too". Anyways, thank you for writing the article.
